Honkai: Star Rail is a space fantasy role-playing game from the creators of Genshin Impact. You travel across the stars on a train called the Astral Express, visiting different planets and solving cosmic mysteries. The core gameplay is turn-based combat, where you build a team of four characters, each with unique skills and elemental types, to fight enemies in strategic battles. The story is a big part of the experience, filled with humor, memorable characters, and stunning animated cutscenes.

Getting started is very easy. After a short tutorial that teaches the basics of movement and combat, you are guided through the opening story. The game does a great job of introducing its systems slowly. The main interface is clean, with a menu for your characters, inventory, and missions. You explore beautiful, detailed areas on foot, solving simple puzzles and talking to NPCs to progress the story. Key mechanics include using a character's basic attack to gain skill points, spending those points on powerful abilities, and unleashing ultimate moves at critical moments. You also collect and upgrade relics and light cones to make your team stronger.

The game is free to play and is available on both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. It does not have forced video ads. Honkai: Star Rail does have in-app purchases for a currency called Stellar Jade, which can be used to pull for new characters and weapons. However, you can earn plenty of resources just by playing through the story and completing daily missions.
